Full Beard - The Ultimate Classic

Growing a full beard takes time and dedication, it is a psychological as well as physical process. You will ups and downs, but it will be worth it in the end!

So what is a full beard? Well the definition is:

“A growth of hair on the chin, cheeks, and throat of a person, especially a man.”

So the full beard will essentially be facial hair which is fully connected around the chin cheeks, sideburns and the neck – although it is important to define the neck and cheek lines correctly. This is a common trap for men whom may lack the knowledge of good beard etiquette – and believe me, there are plenty out there.

Here is an example of how to define the cheek line. Hold the razor at an angle from the tragus (middle section of the ear) and shave the short hairs to the top of the moustache. Avoid any long hairs actually associated with the beard itself.

Patchy Cheeks - No Probs!

For those with patchy cheeks the line can be lowered, and the line can be taken to below the lip to gain the desired effect.

The full beard works well for any face shape, so is a very versatile beard to think about growing. One of the benefits of a full beard is that you have full control over the fullness and length that of which it grows, and there are a variety of tools and accessories which will give you more control over how your beard looks.

It's a Thin Line

Just because you may be growing a full beard, this is no reason not to keep it trim and tidy. There is a fine line between growing a full beard and resembling a homeless man, so be very conscious of your grooming routine, and don't forget to use beard balm or beard oil to keep your beard looking fly.

Full Beard Smart - Full Beard Homless

You should really give your beard a once over on an appropriate guard size or give it a trim with a beard comb and a pair of scissors to remove some of the stragglers, and uneven hairs. Be mindful to maintain definition of the cheeks and neck line, removing any unwanted hair growth with a precision razor.

If you find that your beard does not grow in the direction which you want then take a blow dryer to it, don’t just shave it!

Blow Dry Your Beard, Yeah You Read That Right!

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, not all beards are made equal and a common issue that men find is that beard hair does not always grow the way we expect it too, if you are growing a full beard and you find that the hairs grow in all sorts of directions then simply dampen and blow dry it with a soft bristle brush in your chosen direction. The best time to do this, is when you are just out the shower and you have given the beard a thorough wash.
